A wet start to 2023.

Not the greatest way to start the year with a big flood. The river didn't get to the heights of Storm Frank back in 2015, but it wasn't far off.

The river did get inside the hut and was around the level of the skirting boards. We are just waiting for things to dry out before the clear up gets underway.

We also have some burst water pipes as the temperature has been as low as -12°C, along with me and Steve having Covid.

Happy New Year !!!

The George Hotel, Walkerburn.

The George Hotel reopened it doors last year after many of our rods had already booked their accommodation.

They are very keen for our business in 2017.

The hotel has been fully refurbished from top to bottom and after staying there I can also say the food and service is excellent.

The contact details for the hotel are on the Advice page of our website and more details and photographs can be found on The George Hotel's Facebook page.

STORM FRANK...

As if the Storm Desmond and Eva wasn't enough, along comes Frank.

Repairs to the road were coming along well with a thick bed of hardcore topped with concrete. Not one of us expected the force of water to be capable of scouring the hardcore out from underneath the concrete slab.

The force of the water also brought down fences and smashed gates.

Below are pictures of the debris on Steve's bridge after Storm Desmond.

While Steve was busy with the road I cleared most of the debris in the pictures, below is what Storm Frank gave me in return.

The next picture will give you an idea of the water height with the debris on the trailer ramps.

Thankfully all we have to deal with inside the Bothy is removing the silt.

A very busy 2016 for us.
